SPACE USE POLICY, AGREEMENT AND SUGGESTED DONATIONS

Space Use Policy and Agreement
Safety and Security
• The leaders, sponsors or chaperones of your group shall be continuously present. They shall be the last to leave and ensure that the space is returned to the way it was found, including all trash being disposed of properly.
• Our Space Use Facilitator will unlock necessary doors during your event. You may not leave the building until that person has returned to lock the doors.
• Control the conduct of your group in a manner consistent with Christian ethics of respect, honesty and loving care.
• Avoid rough or athletic activity, which may cause damage to floors, furnishings or people. All space is intended for gentle use only. Avoid standing on chairs, sitting on tables, etc. Report any mishaps to the church office promptly by phone (708-848-4741), by email (churchoffice@GoodShepherdLC.org)
• Please be aware that, in the event of damage to our facilities during your use, you may be billed for the cost of repairs.
• Good Shepherd may require your group to furnish a certificate of liability insurance, without which the event will not take place.
• Good Shepherd accepts no responsibility for the inappropriate actions of persons not affiliated with Good Shepherd toward any adult, youth or child, nor will such inappropriate actions be tolerated.

Food, Beverage and Smoking
• Refreshments are not allowed in the front of the Sanctuary. You may use our regular plates, utensils, coffee pots, etc. that are stored in the kitchen. Disposable plates, napkins and food supplies may not be used. All items must be washed and put away before leaving the premises.
• Alcohol is prohibited on church property, unless specifically authorized by our Congregation Council. If authorized you must provide a certificate of insurance that specifically indemnifies Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
• Smoking is prohibited inside the building.

Assigned Space
• We will try to avoid reassigning your group to another room in the building. However, Good Shepherd’s church groups/committees/activities will have first choice of space within the church building. Concerts and recitals scheduled for the sanctuary will not be reassigned to another room.
• Please confine your group to its assigned space, unless you are asked to move.

Building Keys
• Our Space Use Facilitator will lock and unlock the building, so keys will not be provided under normal circumstances.
• Those who are provided a key fob to enter the building will be charged a $30 fee. A second fob may be requested for an additional $40 fee. Lost fobs will be replaced for $40.

Other Provisions
• Our grand piano in the sanctuary is tuned on a regular basis. You may have the piano tuned, at your own expense, by our piano tuner only. Please obtain the piano tuner’s name and number from the church office.
• Custodial services at Good Shepherd are part-time or volunteer. Your careful use of our space is anticipated and counted on. Our custodian will move the “moveable walls,” set up tables and chairs, and take the trash to the alley. All other set-up and clean-up is your responsibility. Trash must be taken to the bins next to the door in the kitchen. Please use the recycling bins provided for glass, recyclable plastic and paper trash.
• Use no tacks or scotch tape on furnishings, walls, etc. (masking tape may be used). Avoid fastening anything to ceiling panels. Remove all trace of decorations before leaving. Absolutely no natural pine greens are allowed in the building per village code.
• Please show respect for the church building, especially the sanctuary. Nothing is to be rearranged or removed from the sanctuary without the consent of the Pastor. Everything in the Sanctuary serves its religious purpose for the church season we are in. The Altar may not be used as a table.
• Storage space for regular building users is limited to one box of items, to be kept in the room your group regularly uses, or an assigned cabinet. If you wish to store a piece of equipment at the church, please indicate this in your application. Any such box, cabinet, or equipment item must be labeled with the name of your group. Additional boxes or loose items may be disposed of by Good Shepherd.
• Thermostats are set on automatic programs and are not to be re-set. The Space Use Facilitator can help you if this is an issue. • Only emergency, outgoing local calls are permitted from church phones. After office hours, incoming calls are directed immediately to our voice mail. Please use your own cell phones to make or receive phone calls.
• If a concert or recital is taking place in the sanctuary while your group meets elsewhere in the building, please post one of the signs provided on the Randolph Street door to avoid ringing of the doorbell during the concert or recital.
• Please cooperate with other groups using the building to foster an atmosphere conducive to the needs of everyone, including respecting privacy and the need for quiet.
• Children may not wander through the building unattended. The nursery may not be used without specific authorization.
• You may not use musical instruments owned by Good Shepherd, except as specifically authorized. This includes piano, organ and drums. Use of the sanctuary does not include use of the sound system. If sound amplification and microphones are requested a separate fee will be charged and a sound technician will be provided.

Space Use Fees
• Good Shepherd is pleased to make our building available to a variety of groups and individuals in our community. To cover the costs associated with the use of our building, we require the payment of a fee.
