Is it possible to have fun while learning? Can confirmation be about heart knowledge as well as head knowledge? We think so! Read on to learn more . . .

The Confirmation program at Good Shepherd is for students in 7th and 8th grades. We use the Head to the Heart program created by Faith Inkubators, which focuses on serving, learning and having fun. Confirmation classes are held on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15am during the school year. In addition, students attend a monthly peer group meeting for more in-depth sharing and a monthly Fun or Serving Event. Students are confirmed in the fall of their freshman year.

Easter Breakfast

Sunday, April 5, 2015 - 8:30am - 11:00am

The high school and middle school youth of Good Shepherd will be hosting an Easter breakfast as a fundraiser for this summer's Youth Gathering trip and other activities.  Breakfast will be served from 8:30-11:00am so that no matter which church service you attend can come and enjoy a wonderful meal!  A freewill offering will be taken and food donations requested to help offset the cost of the meal.  Hop on down to the Fellowship Hall on Easter Sunday, April 5th!

Share Your Soles Shoe Drive

Our Confirmation students are sponsoring a shoe drive for Share Your Soles, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is dedicated to sharing gently worn or new shoes to those in greatest need. Currently, they are responding to the emergency in Malawi caused by severe flooding.

Shoes will be collected March 8 through April 12. Shoes of any type or size can be donated, although the greatest need is for children’s shoes. Share Your Soles does not repair or wash shoes and those receiving them often live in adverse conditions; donate wisely. Look for our donation boxes in the narthex.

Parent University

Friday, May 1, 2015 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Parent University is a gathering of parents to discuss interesting and relevant topics. The evening includes a light meal and activities for kids.

Confirmation Points

Confirmation students are expected to actively participate in the life and ministry of the church. To that end, a "point system" has been developed to encourage students to engage in a variety of experiences.

Students will select from the following areas to accumlate a total of 40 points during the program year. Points should come from at least three different areas with half coming from Group A.

Group A (must total 20 from this group):

  1. Sermon Notes -- 2 points
  2. Acolyte -- 2 points (7th graders)
  3. Reader (8th graders) -- 2 points
  4. Communion Assistant (8th graders) -- 2 points
