Christian Education

Sunday School

Christian Education is on hiatus for the summer from May 23rd through September 19th 2010.

Normally:

Sunday school is for kids ages 2 through 6th grade. We begin in the sanctuary at 9:10 with music and then we break out into age group classes for a rotation in either art, food, games or science to go along with our Bible story of the week.

7th & 8th graders meet on Sunday mornings as well as part of their confirmation program. Confirmation is also held on Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:30pm.

High schoolers meet in the Upstairs Lounge for conversation.

Confirmation

The Confirmation program at Good Shepherd is for youth in grades 7 and 8.  The program focuses on three facets of learning: service, fellowship and bible/catechism learning.  The goal is to have fun and build relationships while growing in faith and preparing to become an adult member of the church.

diakonia Program

Good Shepherd received this notice and thought it might be of interest to some of our readers.

Notice:

diakonia™ includes a whole new way of thinking and doing, of perception and reception, of defining and redefining our lives and purpose for living. The focus is no longer on ourselves, our fears, trials and tribulations, but on what God would have us say and do in the midst of those fears, trials and tribulations. God’s call to ministry amidst the daily struggles of life is our call to Christian discipleship. For further information about this two-year theological program for lay people, please contact Pamela Marino at 773-763-0605 or go to http://www.thediakoniaprogram.org.

Youth Ministry

Good Shepherd has a thriving youth ministry. Senior high youth plan their own yearly calendar, which consists of fun fellowship events, service projects for the church and community, and retreats.

Senior high youth gather during the Sunday school hour as the Breakfast Club and meet in the upstairs lounge. Also, check out their Facebook page - Good Shepherd Youth-Ministry.
